Agriculture – subsidies – PRV - SZIF

Gandalovič added farmers for rural development projects double money. The Minister Gandalovič added farmers decided on increase of money in some projects in the fifth round of applications for supports in frame of the Rural Development Program (PRV) till the height of 200 percents of originally determined volume. Petr Vorlíček, a spokesmen of the Ministry of Agriculture informed on it on Wednesday. According to his data the double increase of money concerns projects where recipients of subsidies are mainly municipalities, especially in programs supporting investment in municipalities and forest infrastructure.

Gandalovič: World milk prices are the lowest since 2003

In February world milk prices sank at the lowest level since 2003 and they are ear-on-year roughly half. The Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič said it at today´s meeting of a parliamentary agricultural committee. Owing to buy-out milk prices lower than costs, Czech cattle breeders have high losses. Some smaller inland farmers have already had to finish their production for this reason, as reported invited representatives of milk producers at the meeting.

Veterinarians detected bird flu in Hodonín. They will destroy thousands of geese

Bird flue has been found out in Hodonín. It is not dealt with a risky type H5N1, despite of that over 3000 geese and 350 ducks have to be killed. Veterinarians within examination of breeding of water birds in Rybářství Hodonín detected the virus of bird flu on Tuesday. However, it is not dealt with the risky type H5N1 but with much less dangerous strain H7. Despite the fact veterinarians will order to destroy all roughly 3000 geese and 350 ducks, a director of south Bohemian Regional Veterinary Administration Jaroslav Salava told.

Margarines yesterday, today and tomorrow

Often it is written about margarines as about a butter substitute. Also an opinion that margarines are produced by stiffening or that synthetic raw materials are used in their production is mistaken. Margarine was discovered by French chemist Mége-Mouriés in 1869 who divided beef fat into two fractions. He mixed intensively the more liquid one with milk in cow body temperature and the resulting product similar to cream he cooled with ice-cold water. The product resemble with its consistency butter and it got its name according to a pearly appearance (Greek “margaritari” means a pearl).
