Vaccination against BT starts on Friday 13.3.

The same as last year also this year vaccination against bluetongue – catarrhal sheep fever will be carry out. Therefore the State Veterinary Administration of the CR issues extraordinary veterinary measures, for example: From the 13th of March breeders of cattle, sheep and goats older three months kept as farm animals are obliged to vaccinate them on the whole territory of the Czech Republic. For vaccination and revaccination, an inactivated vaccines will be used determined for vaccination against catarrhal sheep fever invoked by serotype 8 - ZULVAC® 8 Bovis for cattle and ZULVAC® 8 Ovis for sheep and goats.

Organic vine growers want to protect endangered fauna and flora

South-Moravian vine-growers want to engage more into protection of endangered animal and plant species. Ekovín, a former Grapes and Wine Integrated Production Union, plans for the future to develop modern technologies favourable for environment which should replace use of pesticides and mineral fertilizers in viniculture. Vine-growers are still more and more interested in organic vine-growing. An area of registered bio-vineyards will grow by about 400 to 900 hectares, a chairman of Ekovín Milan Hluchý said to ČTK today. Recently Ekovín together with Austrian colleagues submitted a petition for spending subsidies from European funds for nature conservation by the help of “ecologization” of agriculture.

Fruit and vegetable prices significantly grew in last 14 days

During last two week potatoes and other kinds of vegetable and fruits significantly raised in price. On the contrary, price of milk, chickens and pig meat decreased, also the price of butter slightly went down. It results from data published by the Czech Statistic Office(ČSÚ) today. The biggest growth of prices to the 3rd of March ČSÚ registered in potatoes, in comparison with the foregoing investigation from the 17th of February their price increased by more than ten percents to average 10,79 CZK per kilogram. Also other kinds of vegetable and fruits monitored by statistics were more expensive. Bananas raised in price by 8,5 percents, tomatoes by 7,7 percents, oranges by 5,3 percents. ČSÚ states growth to five percents in apples, paprika and carrot.

Air fire service will start at beginning of July

The Ministry of Agriculture has already secured prevention of forests fires by means of the Air Fire Service (LHS) for several years. For this year LHS will be secured obviously from the 1st of July. The Ministry of Agriculture provides the air fire service in close cooperation with the General Management of Fire Rescue Brigade of the ČR. LHS and its providing is not a duty of the Ministry; in fact it is dealt with a service for forest owners and users who would otherwise were obliged to ensure a preventive patrol activity and fire-protection of forests themselves.
