Lesy ČR realizes 150 flood-protection investments; 465 million crowns will hit on Water-course administration

The state enterprise Lesy České republiky (LČR) will expound in total approximately 465 million crowns for administration of water courses this year which it has about 19 570 kilometers on its land. Roughly 100 million of the total sum is determined for actual flood-protection measures. While in last two years investments concentrated on removal of damages after floods from 2006, this year the majority part aims at a preventive protection against the destructive overflowing the banks of brooks and torrents.

Fisher-Boel in HN: Brussels will not changes subsidies for farmers now

Czech farmers and their colleagues from other “new” countries of the European Union have to contrive by 2013 with lower subsidies than farmers from the original fifteen take. In an interview for today´s Hospodářské noviny (HN) the Euro-commissioner for agriculture and rural development Mariann Fisher-Boel confirmed it. According to her, the European Union can relinquish subsidies nor in the future. “I don´t believe that a change of the present state would be possible before the year 2013”, Mariann Fisher-Boel said to the daily. Just the constraint on Brussels, so that all take the same subsidies already next year, was one of reasons of Thursday´s farmers´ demonstrations in Prague.

This year´s winter pleased farmers

Les pests and almost no losses on sown crop-plants. Even such are consequences of this year´s winter. Last year at this time farmers almost finished sowing and they worried about that all would freeze. At least as regards poppy, their forecasts fulfilled. However, they have better prognosis for this year. Contrary to the last two years the right winter came also in the region Vyškov and while it caused big damage on roads, farmers can not relish it enough.SZPI forbade sale of soy saucer containing cancerogenic agent

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZPI) did not admit on the market thousands of soy saucer from Vietnam containing excess cancerogenic agents. Within a check in a supplier it withhold a whole charge of saucer in which tests revealed 70 micrograms of agent 3-MCPD (3-monochlor-1,2-propandiol) per one kilogram. Regulations permit only 20 micrograms. The product did not get at all on shelves of shops, Martina Šmídtová, a spokeswoman of the inspection said today to ČTK.
