Other three quality Czech products have chance for EU protection

The Czech Republic has a chance to enlarge its list of trademark by three quality foods. At present the lists amounts to 17 items and gets the CR on the top in frame of the new EU member states. In a good way to the list, there are Znojemské pivo (Znojmo beer) , Mariánskolázeňské oplatky (Mariánské Lázně - spa waffles) and beer Černá Hora. It is dealt with a result of an intensive diplomatic negotiation which for example in the beer from Černá Hora lasts already for four and half years. European policy of quality focused on propagation of production of quality agricultural products and foods plays still more and more significant role in recent years. “The consumers´ interest in information about an origin and quality of purchased goods grows”.

Farmers destroy bushes islands in fields

The less dispersed green on land the best. A part of Czech farmers kept this rule in recent years. They often destroy redundant growths in bushes islands, wind-breaks, marshes and forest edges. A reason? They have more money for congenial areas without bushes or trees. So, in the Czech landscape a paradoxical situation occurs – while some farmers owing to set rules in a subsidy system create smooth fields, others vice versa spend money from different subsidy parcels for segmentation of the landscape, so, for creation of new bushes islands and marshes.

Recession is good for trade chains

While retail incomes of businessmen decreased in January year-on-year by 3,3 percents, in super- and hypermarkets they increased by 3,6 percents. Apparently, the crisis is good for trade chains. Despite a decrease in incomes of businessmen, hyper- and supermarkets remain still profitable and even they increase their earnings. Also their number should reputedly grow, only a number of hypermarkets should increase by as many as 15. They will bet mainly on discounts. According to the Czech Statistic Office, trade chains are something like an island in a sea. While retail markets decreased in January year-on-year by 3,3 percents to businessmen, on the contrary incomes of super- and hypermarkets increased by 3,6 percents.

Number of eco-farms in Vysočina increased almost to double last year

A number of eco-farms increased by about 50 last year in Vysočina. At this year´s beginning in total 113 regardful-farming farmers were registered in the region. It results from data published by the Ministry of Agriculture. More than 4000 hectares of land belonged to organic farming in the region and others 2860 hectares of land were prepared for ranking in this system. According to farmers addressed by ČTK today, the economic crisis has not damaged more significantly their sale yet.
