89 % of Czechs want Gandalovič to intervene against import of stolen wood in Europe
Almost nine of each ten Czechs wants a new legislative which ensure so that wood imported in the EU would not originated from an illegal harvesting. A poll ordered by ecological organizations proved it. WWF and Friends of the Earth Europe –organizations represented in the Czech Republic by Hnutí Duha (Movement Rainbow) – advocate so that Euro-representatives and ministers of agriculture quickly approved and simultaneously improved purposeful measures.
Madeta increases milk buy-out prices, reputedly export subsidies helped
The biggest Czech dairy works Madeta from České Budějovice, announced today that will slightly raise a buy-out price for milk to its suppliers. According to its director Milan Teplý, among others also crisis-protection measures help to it, above all export subsidies for dry milk and butter. “The economic situation creates a space, so that Madeta would start a process of buy-out prices increase. Our suppliers can expect a higher price for March than in foregoing months. However, it will be only a small increase, but continual, regular through the year”, Milan Teplý, the director of Madeta said to ČTK and Czech television.
Polish farmers´ iIncomes of doubled after EU enlargement
Polish farmers´ incomes doubled after accession of the country in the EU. The biggest credit of it belongs to direct Union subsidies for soil cultivation which will be reputedly record-high this year. It results from information provided by the Economics of Agriculture and Food Industry Institute which made an inquiry what influence the Union agricultural policy had had on Polish farmers till now. Seven million farmers and small managers created a group in Poland which was afraid of the EU enlargement the most.
Obligatory marking of origin of virgin olive oil
Till now, citation of a place of origin in olive oil has been voluntary, however, a new regulation 182/2009/ES (OJ L 63, 7. 3. 2009), which changes the regulation 1019/2002on business norms for olive oil decided that from 1.7.2009 this data will be obligatory in case of virgin and extra virgin olive oil. Oils from various areas are characterized by sensory differences connected with different traditional agricultural procedures and different procedures of extraction and mixing and the consumer has a right to be informed to be able to choose. So, producers can use in marketing a higher quality of their products.
