Common Agricultural Policy of EU 27 is again less common

Member states prepare an implementation of changes in subsidies in their states. Last year in November, the Council of Ministers approved principles of the changes in the Common Agricultural Policy, so called Health Check. In the amendment of Regulation No. 73/2009, there are so called articles 68, 70 , and 71 which enables member states to use as many as 10 % of volume of direct payments for other purposes. For example max. 3,5 % for sensible commodities; 6,5 % for solution of natural crisis, disasters, infections and insurances. For the Czech Republic it approximately means a possibility of use as many as 90 mil. Euro annually. Particular states can use this offer or do not have to. They cane use it only partially.

Future Common Fishing Policy wants to protect ecosystems, emphasize responsibility of own fishermen and market mechanisms

On Monday in Brussels, departmental ministers discussed a recently published Green Book to a reform of Common Fishing Policy and solved in details problems of so called excretions. The material which the Commission introduced at April Council in Luxembourg not only describes the present state but mainly it inspires a discussion about where the Common Fishing Policy should proceed in the future. Fundamental is an emphasis on market mechanisms and at the same time also on bigger responsibility of the own fishermen; further a protection of sea environment and ecosystems, and a better coordination with other policies and branches.

Agrarian trade in quarter deepened deficit to 6,5 bil. crowns

The agrarian foreign trade of the Czech Republic was over this year´s first quarter in a deficit 6,54 billion crowns which year-on-year deepened by almost three billion CZK. It results from data which stem from custom statistics of the Czech Statistic Office and they were provided to the ČTK by the Agricultural Union of the Czech Republic. In the last year the agrarian foreign trade ended in a deficit over 23 billion crowns, however, it was its best result in last seven years.

Owing to drought, prices on Corn Exchange increased this year for the first time

The Corn Exchange Brno recorded this year for the first time an increase in all monitored commodities. The increased interest in their purchases is influenced by a long-lasting drought in some areas. A general secretary of the Exchange Karel Zezula said it to ČTK. Commodity prices swayed from the beginning of year above all owing to an economic crisis and a fluctuation in exchange rate of crown. The biggest increase in prices was recorded by brokers first of all in feeding wheat, rye, corn and oil rape. “It compared to last exchange séance two weeks ago raised in price at average by 200 crowns for ton”, Zezula told.
