Czech farmers will block highways at turn of June

Hundreds of Czech farmers will demonstrate on the 22nd of June in Luxembourg against uneven agricultural policy. Moreover, at the turn of June and July they prepare wide protests in the Czech Republic where farmers will block some highways. “We will choose one or several places in the CR and will block highways” Jan Veleba, the chief of Agrarian Chamber told to the protests. The protests at home and abroad want to draw attention to low buy-out prices of milk and uneven agricultural policy in the European Union. Member states, which joined the EU in 2004 and later, get in frame of the EU significantly less subsidies in count per one hectare of land.

ACH: More than half of beef and third of pig meat is from export

More than a half of beef meat and almost a third of pig meat sold in the Czech Republic by functioning trade chains is from export. It results from today published results of inquiry carried out throughout the Czech Republic by the Agrarian Chamber (ACH). Farmers and food producers have drawn attention to growing share of exports in meat supply for longer time. Of 298 pieces of sampled beef meat in total 52 percents originated from export. 40 % was of Czech origin, the origin of eight samples was not clear or a producer did not publish it at all. The imported meat came the most often from Germany, Austria, Poland and Ireland.

Australia dislikes subsidies of milk products in EU and USA

Australia will also in the future “very hardly” argue against a position of the European Union and the United States in the question of providing subsidies for milk product export. Australian Minister of Trade Simon Crean told that re-implementation of subsidies in Europe and America is not in accordance with world trade rules. American Ministry of Agriculture announced at the end of May that it would subsidize about 92 000 tons of milk products which are determined for export. By this position the authority wants to help American farmers on whom the decrease in milk and milk product prices in the world and decreasing sale weigh.

Moravian vine-growers got ten medals in Canada

In Canadian Quebec other of competitions of the world vine-growing “grand slam” took place. Our vine-growers obtained one golden and nine silver medals there which is an extraordinary success for our small country, which is not vine-growing big power in the world context. In Canadian Quebec other of competitions of the world “grand slam” Vinofedu – Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada took place. Our vine-growers who delivered their samples there in a strong competition of six hundred producers from thirty two countries were doing well. The y got one golden and nine silver medals.
