Fruit-growers in Ústí region expect rich fruit harvest this year

Fruit-growers harvest a lot of cherries this year in the region Ústí; they expect also a very good crop of apricots, apples and other fruit. Even if fruit trees ceased blossoming very fast, thanks to nice weather flowers had enough time to pollen well. Flowers were not damaged by frost this year, however, the growers are afraid that the crop could be now influenced by hails and owing to moisture also scab. In an inquiry in fruit-growers in the region it was found out by ČTK. A chairman of Agricultural Cooperative Klapý in the region Litoměřice, Otakar Šašek, relishes the amount of fruits on trees. “Meanwhile it looks well, the amount of fruit is relatively high and there were any hails in our region” , he told.

Agricultural land in region is bought by foreigners

Agricultural enterprises and vine-growers in a region loose land. Meanwhile it is not in such an extent that they would bankrupt but there is a danger that it will be worse. Two law lie in the Parliament which will enable in their final consequence that land could be available also for foreigners who are able to pay for it more than Czech growers. Meanwhile, they lease it, mostly from small owners, and they do not have enough money for its purchase. Already now, foreigners buy the land, mainly in the region Břeclav and Znojmo. Directly from private owners. However, they buy the state-owned land illegally because the law does not enable it, meanwhile.

Amendment of act will ease life to proper breeders and will increase protection of most endangered species

The Chamber of Deputies approved an amendment of act today on trading with endangered species of wild animals and wild growing plants today. The novel reacts to actual changes of EU legislative and requirements of the international agreement CITES in regulation of trade with endangered animal and plant species. “I am very glad that the novel was successfully passed. It removes useless administrative and bureaucracy for fair and proper breeders and growers who have a very good tradition and recognized results in the Czech Republic.

The most wood in country was harvested in South Bohemia

Timber harvesters produced 2,25 million cubic meters of wood without bark in south of Bohemia last year. The most of them – 85 percents was spruce. At the same time, just the spruce represented the seventh of all domestic harvest. Of leafy trees, south-Bohemian foresters cut the most often oaks and beeches. Last year 16,2 million cubic meters of coniferous and leafy wood were processed in saws in the Czech Republic. South-Bohemian region shared in the harvest with 14 percents. In comparison with 2007, the timber harvest decreased by 55 percents in the region.
