Decrease in wheat value does not end

Wheat price did not decrease even in Friday. The commodity devalued the seventh day of last eight trade days. Above all improving weather in the USA, which will enable to accelerate harvest of perennial wheat in following days, caused the Friday weakening. The weather helps also to the new crop of the commodity in Europe where rain falls help to improve quality of wheat before coming harvest. Thereby also probability of high wheat crop in the old continent increases.

Novel of law on agriculture aims at Senate

An amendment of act on agriculture, whose the main aim is enlargement and improvement of providing of subsidies in connection to European regulations and a simplification of private farmer register, got a support of representatives in the third reading today and aims to the Senate. “I am glad that the support for passing the novel throughout a political spectrum was successfully found. Contrary to an original proposal, which was pass by the government last year, the final version supported today was adjusted and completed in the Chamber of Deputies with sixty four modifying proposals”, the Minister of Agriculture Jakub Šebesta pointed out.

Meanwhile, despite crisis, EU will not obviously change milk quotas

The European Union is aware of serious problems with which milk producers fight and it will try to come with steps to improve the situation. However now is not possible to expect a reduction of agreed milk quotas which some farmers demand. It resulted from a discussion of Czech Minister of Agriculture Jakub Šebesta with ČTK before today´s meeting with colleagues from other EU countries. Just Šebesta will manage the negotiation as a representative of EU presidential country. On the edge of meeting he will probably also meet representatives of discontent farmers. They are going to accompany the meeting with massive protests in Luxembourg.

SZPI detained ton of dangerous peanuts from Vietnam

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZIP) seized a shipment of ton of peanuts from Vietnam on the state border. Laboratory analyses revealed as much as eight-times exceeding of a limit for health-harmful aflatoxins. The supplier has to return the peanuts to a consumer or to destroy them. A spokeswoman of SZIP Martina Šmídová said it to ČTK today. The delivery contained 2146 half-kilogram packages of fresh unpeeled peanuts. It originated from the same container delivery as a dangerous jelly whose distribution was forbidden by SZIP already at this June beginning.
