First estimations of flood damages in rivers of Lesy ČR go in hundreds of millions crowns
Employees of the state enterprise Lesy ČR, which controls a big part of watercourses and torrents afflicted by the present floods, help continually to mayors and inhabitants in critical areas from the last Thursday. Together with damage liquidation works they gradually reckon their approximate height. The present assessment of damages moves in hundreds of million crowns. The biggest damages are in regions Nový Jičín and Jeseník, in the river Odra drainage area. Managers of watercourses of Lesy ČR organize securing activities in the afflicted and endangered places already from Thursday morning.
New phenomenon in Czech Republic, cheap foods capitalize on expired goods
A new phenomenon spreads among trade chains; some sellers focus on less moneyed. For example the shop Levné potraviny (Cheap food) sells expired goods or goods with expiration expired in a short time. Thanks to it prices are really low – green olives for five crowns, barbecue sausages discounted from one hundred to fifty crowns. As an agent of the company Hana Havriljaková said to Novinky, a company motto is to feed underprivileged people, self-breadwinners with children, or pensioners.
Prepare baskets, forests will change of mushroom paradise
Only one week divides Czechs from a real mushroom harvest. At least, according to opinion of the Czech Scientific Society for Mycology president Vladimít Antonín. “Thanks to moisture the land dries up little. Therefore we can expects a real mushroom explosion after warming which meteorologists announce for the end of week”, Antonín said to Lidové Noviny. Mushrooms will mind nor other rain. According to MŽP ČEZ should invest mainly in energy plants
If the energy firm ČEZ wants to produce energy from bio-mass, it should invest in targeted production of energy plants. It results from press declaration of the Ministry of Environment (MŽP). According to the Minister Ladislav Mik it is not possible to rely on waste from wood-production or on forest bio-mass. The firm delivered in a reaction that it aims to a targeted production. A biomass support is also a part of recently announced strategic initiative of the group ČEZ for a support of innovation and technologies Futur/e/motion. ČEZ nominally presented there new types of energy plants, as herbs and fast-growing woody plants, however, none numbers have been published yet.
