Agrarian Chamber: Floods caused damages in agriculture in height 200 million crowns

Owing to floods, 768 animals, of it 686 in Moravian-Silesian region and 82 in the region Olomouc died till the Sunday. It results from data provided by the State Veterinary Administration. The Agrarian Chamber estimates that floods caused farmers damages about 200 million crowns. A vice-president of Agrarian Chamber Jindřich Šnejdrla told it in Thursday. According to him, about 40  000 hectares of agricultural land were damaged and 500 hectares were completely destroyed. Words of French Minister of Agriculture Bruno Le Maire: “milk from France features with especial quality. Therefore, I think, that this milk earns a public appreciation and evaluation”, the minister told. At the same time hi wishes so that a mark could appear on all types of milk products, not only on milk, so for example also on butter and yoghurts. The new minister confirmed too that French state consider an implementation of additional financial support for milk producers in their difficult situation. In practice it would be dealt with a repayment of interest from short-term credits of milk producers, above all of the young because they have the highest production costs.

Lesy ČR increased net profit by 62 percents to 461 million CZK last year

Last year, the state enterprise Lesy České republiky (LČR) increased its net profit by 62 percents to 461 million crowns from previous 284 million crowns. The firm achieved the profit growth especially by cost savings and a higher yield from a sale of long-term property and material. A spokesman of LČR Michal Kačena said it to ČTK today. Lesy ČR owns about a half of forests in the country. The firm increased the profit in spite of timber harvesting in state forests decreased year-on-year last year by seven percents to 8,25 million squared meters. The total yields of the firm fell by a tenth to 10,9 billion crowns last year.

United Bakeries fell in loss of 67 million crowns in the CR last year

A bakery group United Bakeries, considered as the biggest on Czech market, fell in a loss of 67 million crowns last year from the year before the last profit 473 million. The company´s takings increased from 3,56 billion in 2007 to last year´s 3,66 billions. It results from data in an annual report of the company. The group which originated by a fusion of Odkolek and Delta Pekárny in 2006 sold 134 million kilograms of products last year in the Czech Republic which is year-on-yearly by more than 7,5 percents less. “This decrease was caused by medial warning against coming economic recession which changed buying habits of consumers even in case of purchase of basic foods”.
