Harvest almost finishes in South-Bohemian region
The harvest of cereals finishes in South Bohemia; 138 062 hectares have been already harvested. Also harvest of winter wheat, spring barley and triticale almost end, only 10 percents of sown area remain to harvest. A directress of the Regional Agrarian Chamber of South-Bohemian region Hana Hricová informed ČTK today. The harvest progresses the best in the region České Budějovice where 96 percents of sown area of all cereals have been harvested; the worse in the region Prachatice where the crop was damaged by rains and hails at the beginning of August. Combine harvesters have not gone in rye and oat yet. So, a part of crop will stay on fields.
Year 2010: Agriculture for the first time since the Czech Republic entered the EU is under threat of loss
A wheat buy-out is according to farmers at a level of prices before 1989. The Agrarian Chamber (ACH) expects that Czech farmers will earn, even after counting of subsidies, about two billion crowns this year. Last year, according to the Czech Statistic Office (CSO) they achieved a profit 9,7 billion crowns. Next year Czech agriculture, for the first time after the CR accession in to the EU, could fall in four-billion loss. That in case that it will not get any subsidies from the state. Jan Veleba, the president of ACH CR, presented it in a TV program Otázky Václava Moravce (Václav Moravec´s Questions).
Experts: Wood engraver pandemy is in Šumava
Wood engraver pandemy is in Šumava. It is asserted by experts from the forest administration and specialist from the South-Bohemian and Pilsen region who examined a territory of the National Park in July. According to their report the situation is alarming, the protection measures insufficient and the present care system leads to a fatal devastation of Šumava whose consequences are immense. Politicians and experts require to assemblage immediately a work commission which will elaborate a binding emergency plan of care in the park. “If it is not assembled in a short time, I am prepared to declare a state of danger in Šumava territory”, a South Bohemian hetman Jiří Zimola told.
The most weighty piglets in second litter
Sows give birth in the second litter to the most weighty and very vital piglets. These are results of a broad analysis of Dutch selection breedings. It was proved that young sow (primiparas) give birth at average to the lightest offspring. However, an average weight of piglets in the second litter reached a maximum; in the following litters again a continual decrease in average piglet weight was recorded. A similar trend was found out also in case of percent rate of piglets-survivors.
