Almost half of bee colonies die in USA, according to scientists it is because of viruses
The United States battle with a dramatic bee death. According to scientists the collapse is caused by two viruses which “switch off” genes necessary for a bee life. Than its body does not produce needed proteins and the bee dies of exhaustion. The virus has not got in central Europe yet, however, according to scientists it can spread easily. Since 2006 whole bee colonies died or disappeared in the USA; after winter the Americans lose as many as 40 percents. A situation is Europe is better, meanwhile.
Cocoa on 13-month maximum
A price of the most active December futures cocoa contracts jumped on the top value in last 13 month in frame of yesterday´s trade séance on the change ICE Futures U.S.. It happened after confirmation of a report according to which this year´s global demand for the mentioned commodity will considerably exceed the worldwide production. According to International Cocoa Organization the global cocoa production deficit will reach as many as 73 thousand metric tons this year ending on the 30th September.
New flue has been found out in Chile poultry breeding
An infection of new (pig) flu has been discovered in turkey-hen breeding in Chile. The poultry took the disease from a person, however, according to Ministry of Health Care in Chile it is not dealt with a mutated virus A (H1N1). In this case, people infected several turkey-hens. The virus, which the turkey-hen had, is a human virus, it is not mutated. It is dealts with the first case. The International Office for Animal Infections (OIE, Paris) has not recorded any infection among poultry with the pig flu strain yet. The turkey-hen breeding is in a quarantine and this measure concerns also people who transferred the infection. However, there is not a danger that someone has infected by turkey-hen meat consummation.
Farmers wait for higer buy-out prices
This year´s harvest almost finishes. Farmers have harvested roughly 92 percents of areas with cereals and over 99 percents fields with rape. Buy-out prices are still low. It results from data published by the Agrarian Chamber of the CR yesterday. Against the last year, the harvest is slightly delayed especially thanks to rainy weather in June and July. Also, hectare yields of cereals are lower. However, it is not the case of rape, its yield is vice-versa higher than last year.
