11 exhibits obtained appraisal Golden spike

11 exposed exhibits will carry home an appraisal Golden spike (Zlatý klas) from the agrosalon Země živitelka (Earth breadwinner). A jury chose a winner among 24 entered products in five categories today. The Golden spike with a small flower for an ecologic product was bestowed to “Dědečkův med” (Grandfather honey) from a firm Včelpo. In a category plant production, the jury passed over the Golden spike to a firm Vesa Velhartice for a potatoes variety Bella. In animal production, specialists appreciated the ZOD Němětice and the cooperative AGRA Březnice, both for a collection of breeding heifers.

Milk stayed without changes

A genetically modified corn MON810 is digest ed in heifer organism in exactly the same way as a conventional corn; no existence of any evidences of a transfer of transgenic components in milk was proved. A team of experts from a department of physiology of the Technical University in Munich together with a Bavarian Provincial Agricultural Institute observed a way of a degradation of protein cry1Ab and DNA cry1Ab from transgenic corn in a heifers digestive tract.

Green technologies destroy environment

The world wakes up from a green jag. Many alternative energy production technologies, which had a label of ecological resource a few years ago, get a bad reputation. A number of news of bio-fuels negative impacts, wind and water power stations, or bio-mass burning increases. Despite the fact most governments does not reduce a support to these branches. Scientist find that many of them have in the same way negative or even significantly worse influence on the environment than fossil resources – crude oil and coal. A typical example is biofuels.

Export of wine from France decreased by 25 percents over half-year owing to crisis

Wine export from France fell by 25 percent over six month this year. A global economic crisis affected the wine trade and decreased consumers´ expenditures. A Federation of French wine and Spirit Exporters presented that the export value decreased to 3,28 billion Euros (83,6 billion CZK) from last year´s comparable 4,35 billion Euros. Mainly export of luxury wines decreased. The export of champagne fell by 45 percents and cognac by 27 percents. The cheaper table wines export decreased by one percent.
