ČP: Farmers´ damages were the worst this year in recent history

Agricultural damages of Česká pojišťovna (ČP - Czech insurance company) clients, which has a three-quarter share in this insurance market, are the worst this year in the recent history of insurance business. Farmers announced to ČP over 2400 damages to plants and animals this year whose height will exceed 800 million crowns. One year earlier, ČP paid off 500 million CZK; in 2007 it was 400 million CZK. A director of agricultural insurance of ČP, Jiří Havelka, said it to ČTK today. According to Havelka, the growing number and damage volume in agriculture was caused by extreme swings of weather. “The weather is more extreme in recent years”.

Food industry can expect better times

A draft law on a significant market power and its misuse, which had been returned by the Senate CR with amendments, was approved by the Chamber of Deputies. The Food Chamber of CR as a representative of the food sector and at the same time one of initiators of rise of this law is very pleased that in this case a health reason beat pseudoliberalism. We, as representatives of food producers hope too that the law on s significant market power and its misuse would come in force as soon as possible. We are convinced that a consistent excise of the law will bring not only a benefit to the food industry but also to the own consumer.

Parliament pass fundamental law on conservation

The Chamber of Deputies pass definitively a key proposal of amendment of law on conservation of nature and landscape today. “It is a fundamental success. This law it the most important regulation in the conservation and the novel was really essential. It does not mean only a better conservation of alleys, even if it is probably medially the most attractive. However, it also cancels an absurd practice of giving exceptions of law by the government and it introduces other positive changes”, the Minister of Environment Ladislav Miko tells. “It transfers a decision much closer to citizens and also it solves the present inconsonance with valid European regulations”, the minister adds.

Weather was bad, there is little honey, people will pay more

A price of delicacy will rise by ten to twenty crowns per kilogram; people will pay for a jar about hundred. People will have to add roughly twenty crowns per kilogram of honey this year. Bee-keepers in Kroměříž region have little of it: it is cause by bee disease and infavourable spring weather. “It is a disaster. In comparison with the last year, we have by about fifty - sixty percents less. In the spring the weather was hot early, than it suddenly got cool, it started to rain and bees did not have time to pollen everything”, a chairman of bee-keepers from Kroměříž region, František Černošek, sighed. According to him, the delicacy price will rise by ten to twenty crowns per kilogram, people will pay about hundred for a jar.
