UNO reduces food aid to Africa owing to lack of money
UNO has to close 12 branches providing food to mothers and children in Somalia. The reduction of food aid concerns also other African states. According to BBC the reason is a lack of finances. A World Food Program (WFP) had to reduce the aid despite the long-term crisis in Somalia. According to a spokesman of WFP in Kenya, Peter Smerdon, the program had no choice, it got only 40 percents of necessary finances for the next year. Decrease in a volume of food aid comes in a moment when according to UNO about three million of Somalis are dependent on it. Every fifth Somali child suffers from a serious undernourishment.
EU will have record crop of rape this year
The European Union countries will probably reach a new record in oil rape harvest in a volume 20,30 million tons this year and thereby they will exceed the last year´s record 18,9 million tons. An analytic firm Oil World in Hamburg, which increased its August estimation by 180 000 tons, predicted it. The increased production of the plant, whose oil started to use on a mass scale as bio-fuel in recent years, will significantly reduce European demand for an import of this raw-material. Oil World estimates that the EU will decrease the total import of rape in this season to 1,90 million tons from 3,22 million tons in the season 2008/09.
