Inspection: Farmers pollute underground waters

Non-fulfillment of payment duties and not-allowed taking of underground waters. According to the Czech Inspection of Environment, these are the most often breaches of water law in south Bohemia. ”Since this year beginning we have realized more than one hundred and sixty checks, We imposed thirty four fines for the found out faults in the total height of almost one million crowns”, a spokeswoman of the Czech Inspection of Environment Ivana Awwadová told. In her opinion, the biggest sinners are municipalities and agricultural cooperatives. One of the coops, which got a fine from inspectors of the environment, was ZOD Borovany.

Milk automats are tested in Vysočina

The first two milk automats already works in Vysočina; people can tap milk from them in Pelhřimov and in Ždírec nad Doubravou. A number of other machines will raise in shops. A regional veterinary administration negotiated now about such a way of milk sale with other two agricultural businesses in the region Pelhřimov; they could have the registration in about week. According to an assumption, other applicants will come, Jiří Šulc a director of the veterinary administration told today. By means of the direct sale of milk breeders want to improve takings, despite the fact that they can convert into money only a part of their production.

Young people are not attracted to agriculture

Agricultural enterprises in the region Klatovy have problems with a lack of young labour force. An age average of agricultural employees moves around fifty years. Young people are not attracted to work in this branch. “ Number of young workers decreases in our enterprise. We had young tractor drivers but even they are almost forty years old today. After taking up their indentures none comes. Agricultural branches are in recession”, František Kohout from Zemědělské obchodní družstvo (agri-coop) in Kolinec says. “The biggest problem is reputedly a work time. They can not work only eight hours and five days a week”.

MZe and SZIF removed insufficiencies in payment of subsidies

The Ministry of Agriculture (MZe) and the State Agricultural Intervention Fund (SZIF) have removed insufficiencies in payment of agricultural subsidies which were revealed by last year´s check of the Supreme Control Office (NKÚ). It results from a material which will be put forward by the ministry for information to the government on Monday. NKÚ workers found out last year that decisions on provision of a support, issued by the fund, did not contained a way of calculation of the support height. A recipient of the support could not practically to verify its correctness. SZIF in a reaction to the check finding adjusted its decisions already this year in January so that it would be obvious how the support was calculated.
