Czech Republic and Austria agreed what to do with wood engraver on common Šumava border

Czech Minister of Environment Ladislav Miko and his Austrian colleague Nikolaus Berlakovich signed a common agreement on forest protection on the common border on the National Park Šumava today in Vienna. „The agreement stems from a differentiated management of forest eco-systems on both sides of the border. Its aim is to maximally reduce a risk of wood engraver spread and at the same to time to ensure an effectual protection of natural processes in forests of the National Park“, the Minister of Environment Miroslav Miko explains.

Firm Inpost finished management with two-million loss last year

A company Inpost from Uherské Hradiště, dealing mainly with a production, a purchase and a sale of meat products, ended last year´s management with more than two-million loss. The enterprise showed a net profit of almost 10,1 million crowns a year ago when it was almost double against 2006. Takings for sales of goods, of own products and services were almost 1,06 million CZK last year. It is approximately the same as year ago when the firm get 1,07 million CZK at that time. ČTK found it from an annual report of the company saved in a Collection of Documents.

Corn: Beware of fusaria!

Corn contains obviously more kinds of fusaria than it was assumed. As a research institute Agroscope informed, in Switzerland, 16 various species of these fungi were found out in grain samples from a harvest 2008. The fungi spread in invaded growths to all plant parts of corn. The problem is above all a creation of mycotoxins. Heavily contaminated parts of corn can not be used as a feed for animals.

FAO: Prices of food commodities probably will not decrease in immediate future

Prices of food commodities will stay in medium-term period high and unstable and there is a danger of repeating of price growth at record levels from years 2007 – 2008. The Food and Agriculture Organization of UNO presented it today. FAO does not count on a fall of prices below the level from 2006, meanwhile. Prices of basic food commodities started to grow in 2006 and last year got at record levels. It invoked commotions in some areas and a high growth of number of starving all over the world.
