Pigs from Poland must not be slaughtered in CR

A desirable consequence of our good infection situation is that on base of possible additional guarantees it is possible to better protect animal health. The ČR is free of Aujeszky´s pig disease; the European Union accepted this situation and confirmed to our republic already five years ago that we can require additional guarantees of importers in trading. It means that live pigs can be imported in the Czech Republic only from countries free of this infection, or from countries where a curative program against Aujeszky´s disease is realized.

Madness passed away?

At least in the animal empire there is not madness for longer time. This year´s the last case of BSE, a bovine spongiform encephalopathy, was recorded in the CR in May. This year, meanwhile, two cases. In 2008 none, in 2007 also two. BSE occurrence in the CR steps back, the same as in other EU member states. Though, a sporadic occurrence is not excluded, of course. At all events, till this time, if other cases of the disease appear in a similar way, it is necessary to count on examination also in the future.
