Government agreed 900 million crowns for national supports for next year

The government approved 900 million crowns for endowment agricultural programs for 2010 at today´s meeting. Owing to necessary cuts in the state budget, the total sum of national supports was reduced by 200 million crowns. However, a continuity of grant stay maintained. The proposal of financial means determined for endowment programs for 2010 stems from a total financial limit in height of 900 mil. CZK, respectively 700 mil. CZK of subsidies for non-investment subsidies and 200 mil. CZK of subsidies for acquisition of long-term tangible property (capital expenditures). “A spectrum of endowment programs keeps continuity with programs realized in foregoing years”.

Number of butter and cheese imitation raises on shelves in shops

A representation of cheap imitation of milk products, in production of which plant oils were used instead of milk, on shelves in Czech shops and in offer is still larger, Jiří Kropáček from the Bohemian-Moravian Dairy Industry Union told. For example, imitations have a grate share among processed cheeses but also imitations of hard cheeses are available. According to Kropáček, producers and tradesmen sell often these products under similar names as cheeses produced from milk which is forbidden. “Sale of milk product imitations is a new phenomenon”, Kropáček told and added that the sale grows in the Czech Republic as well as across Europe.

Olma will start to increase milk buy-out prices from November

A dairy works in Olomouc, Olma, will start gradually to increase milk buy-out prices from November. The second most important Czech producer of milk products pays farmers less than six crowns for liter of milk now; at the end of next week it could be 7,5 – 8 CZK. Simona Sokolová, a general director of Olma, said to ČTK. Owing to low buy-out prices, farmers poured out milk on fields in several places in the country on Thursday and Friday. “Certainly, I am not am advocate of such fierce actions as pouring of milk is. On the other hand, as a directress of plant belonging to Agrofert Holding, which has also its cow, I have to say that I understand the farmers´ position.”

Highest assessment in TOP 77 was bestowed to few wines; commission was stricter

Four and five-star assessments for excellent and extraordinary wines were bestowed only roughly a half number of samples at this year´s 11th year of the competition TOP 77 in comparison with foregoing years. According to organizers, it is above all by still more often representation of young wine-taster in an evaluation commission who have “stricter tongues”. They have more experience from abroad and do not have such compassion with work of Czech vine-growers. Eduard Postbiegl, viticultural expert and a chief of the commission, said it to journalists today.
