Attitude towards press release of MZe on approval of national supplementary payment rates (TOP UP) for 2009

The Ministry of Agriculture (MZe) published a press release on the approved national supplementary payment rates (TOP UP) for 2009 on its web pages on the 3rd of November. Among other there is stated in the release: “The total sum determined for national supplementary payments for this year is almost 6,3 bil. CZK”. Well, regarding a tight state budget, a sum 6 299 thousand crowns is determined for TOP UP. However, an accession agreement enables to pay as many as 7 bil. CZK from national resources to low direct payments from the EU. The total sum of national supplementary payments in this height was paid last year, too.

Chamber of Deputies decided: Gardeners will possibly have their special law

Gardeners will possibly have their own law which will adjust their activity. A relevant draft law was supported in the first reading by the Chamber of Deputies. Especially representatives of social democracy and communists, but also a chairman of the Club of Green, Přemysl Rabas, signed the material. A former Mirek Topolánek´s government disagreed with the draft law. The law stand up to a proposal for disapproval as well as a proposal for return to floor managers for revision. Now it will be discussed in the parliamentary agricultural committee and a committee for public administration.

Barley and hop came right, Czech beer will be of high-quality

According to specialists, a quality of hop in comparison with the year 2008 is slightly better. Beer lovers can take breath. Even despite a slight decrease in volume of harvested barley for brewing purposes, contrary to the year 2008, the quality of barley stays safe. According to brewers, this year´s barley is ripe and has the optimal moisture for storage. Vice versa, hop has a better quality. The most important variety SAAZ is grown on 87 percents of hop-yards and a content of alfy-acids has increased by 6 percents in last fifteen years. Also other varieties of the hop Sládek and the variety Premiant have the content of mentioned acids higher against last year´s harvest.

Farmers in Hradec region decreased numbers of pigs by five percents

Farmers from the region Hradec Králové decreased the number of pigs by more than five percents. Agricultural enterprises raised 155 099 pigs in this region at the beginning of this year´s August, year-on-yearly almost by 9000 pieces less. The number of pigs in all the country decrease by 9,4 percents to 2,13 million pieces from last year´s to this year´s August. It results from data of the Czech Statistic Office branch in Hradec according to which the reduction of pig numbers happens owing to low buy-out prices of pig meat. The most decrease is recorded in number of sows and piglets, roughly by fifth. According to statisticians, the decrease affected most regions of the republic.
