Government approved fundamental strategic documents for environment yesterday

The Minister of Environment Ladislav Miko, who returns in Brussels today, put forward several fundamental strategic documents to the government even before his departure which will have an important influence on the area of environment in the future. Among them is “Proposal of theses of Adaptation to climatic change strategy in CR conditions”, “Updating of state program of nature and landscape conservation of the Czech Republic”, and “Theses of waste economy development in the Czech Republic”.

Influence of temperature on food allergens

A British organization founded in order to support people with an allergy, Anaphylaxis campaign, with use of materials of the British office FSA and the office EFSA, after many consultations, tried to evaluate an influence of heat treatment on some allergen foods.

French smoked meat products sound Czech market

Ham from black Bigor pig, Bayon ham from a basin of the river Adour, sausages with “whipped” filling from Alsace, terrines, pate creams; liver, goose and game specialties from French regions look for their way on Czech market. Companies from Bretagne, Alsace, south-west and central part of France reputedly motivates an interest of the Czechs in smoked and meat products. “We try to offer different tastes to a curious customer than to which he/she is used. The Czech Republic is not big but the consumption of smoked meat products is practically twice the size against France. We would like to get also on Slovak market in the future.

Dirty pigs are health pigs

To live a bit like a pig pays off sometimes. A new study shows a connection between a life in “dirty” outside environment and the right functioning of immunity system. British scientists worked with a group of 54 piglets which they divided after birth into three environment types – outside, internal and internal isolated in which piglets took antibiotics every day. Scientist killed the piglets regularly and studied composition of their intestinal micro-flora.
