Frame regulation for achievement of sustainable use of pesticides

The regulation No. 2009/128/ES from October 21, 2009 which determines a frame for activity of the Community in order to achieve sustainable use of pesticides is a completion of a system of safety measures including among other a regulation 396/2005/ES about maximal limits of pesticide residuals in foods and feeds of plant and animal origin and on their surface, and a regulation 1107/2009/ES about introduction of plant protection preparations on the market.

French Constitutional Council cancelled ecological taxFrench Constitutional Council cancelled a new ecological tax on use of energies burdening the environment, so above all from oil, gas and coal, on Tuesday evening. The tax which should have come in force from the 1st of January was passed by the Parliament dominated by a right-wing majority in December in frame of a budgetary law for the next year. According to the Constitutional Council the norm contained too many exceptions which went against the measures spirit, intention of which is a fight against global warming. In fact, the tax would touch less than a half of emitted gases with green-house effect because only ecologically demanding heating and fuels would be paid for.

Meat is usually cheaper in butcher´s shop than in supermarkets

Supermarkets endanger besides small sellers also operators of traditional butcher´s shops. “ When people go shopping in supermarkets, they buy also meat and smoked meat products. If I does not supply restaurants, I could close my business. This year´s fall was considerable”, an entrepreneur Václav Šindelář from Kunžak unburdened. According to his words, he has an advantage that he operates the business only with his wife and they have manufactury and shop in a family house.

Russia starts to inhibit import of poultry meat from USA owing to chlorine

Russia starts to block the import of poultry meat from the United States since this day. It justifies it with fears from health risks because Americans use chlorine for antimicrobial treatment, which Russians dislike. Therefore, they started to forbid this way of meat treatment. Russia is for American poultry producers the biggest export market; in 2008 they deliver meat there for 801 million dollars (c. 14,7 billion CZK).
