The Minister of Agriculture of the CR Jakub Šebesta appreciated priorities of Spanish presidency at today´s meeting of the Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fishery presented by Spanish Ministress of Agriculture Elena Espinosa. The main task she sees in a form of common agricultural policy and competitiveness of European agriculture. “By a selection of topics Spaniard pick our presidency up. EU finds out whether it is possible to increase export quotas for sugar producers

The European Union verifies whether it is possible to enable sugar producers in the EU to exceed allowed limits for sugar export without breaking valid international norms. The Euro-commissioner for agriculture Mariann Fishe r Boel entrusted lawyers to find out whether such a possibility does exist. According to norms of the World Trade Organization, EU sugar producers can export roughly 1,3 million tons yearly. However, the volume of export licence achieved this height already in last weeks.

Foresters forbade entry in part of forests

The state enterprise Lesy České republiky forbade entry in a part of its forests in east Bohemia owing to a threat of trees fall. Falling of branches and whole trees threats owing to the present thaw when snow on trees gets heavy and frosting develops. The biggest risk is in pine growths. The enterprise recommends the public to reduce entry even in surrounding forests. The entry ban concerns forests in administration of forest administration Choceň and Rychnov nad Kněžnou. Concretely it is dealt with forests in administrative districts of municipalities Holice v Čechách, Pardubice, Vysoké Mýto and Kostelec nad Orlicí.
