Minister Šebesta withdraw people substituted for Gandalovič

The State Subsidiary and Guarantee Rural and Forestry Fund (PGRLF) silently significantly changed its management at the end of last week. Three people of a five-member directorship, established in the function by than Minister of Agriculture Petr Gandalovič in May 2007, were withdrawn. Its successor Jakub Šebesta, sent into the government by social democracy, nominated in the board an economic expert of ČSSD Jan Mládek, a chief director of economic section at the Ministry of Agriculture Jiří Havlíček, and a director of the Research Institute of Amelioration and Land Protection Jiří Hladík, who is Šebesta´s advisor.

Farmers victim of price war of chains

Copa/Cogeca warned yesterday that farmers are a victim of price war of trade chains and it requires from Union politicians to negotiate resolutely in this matter. “It is an acceptable situation. The pressure on decrease of trade prices wrings all the food chain”. It was declared by a general secretary of Copa/Cogeca, Pekka Personen. According to him, the decrease of farmer prices, which is not compensated by decrease of production cost prices, invokes an unbearable pressure on producers. As Personen reminded, even this is a reason why according to Eurostat estimation the last year´s income per employees in agriculture fell on average of the European Union by 12,2 percents.

Lesy will announce tenders for sale of wood for 15 billion

The state enterprise Lesy ČR, which owns a half of Czech forests, will announce competitions for sale of all harvested wood from the next year till the year 2020. The commissions will have a vale of approximately 15 billion crowns. Tenders for wood sale and forest works will be announced by the firm on the February 1. It was said by a spokesman of Lesy ČR, Zbyněk Boublík. Some subjects in forestry criticize the tenders. A fundamental change against the present system is that all harvested wood will be sold by timber harvesting firms.

Positive influence of milk on human health

A conference “Nutrition and health” brought interesting information about positive influence of milk on human health. In frame of the world dairy summit of the International Dairy Federation (IDF) in September 2009, also a conference on topic “Nutrition and health” took place. Number of people suffering from overweight and obese people increases in the world today with which high health risks are connected (diabetes of type 2, apnoea, respiratory problems, hypertension, cancer, disease of vessels and heart, heart stroke, osteoporosis)
