Support can be newly drawn for landscape elements inside land block

Farmers who will have registered landscape elements by means of agriculture and country agencies will be able to obtain some supports from the EU linked to the area (e.g. direct payments, LFA payments, agri-environmental measures) for their acreage already this year. This possibility refers to landscape element lying inside the land block.

China started raid against contaminated milk

A national-wide ten-day raid on milk products contaminated with melamin was started by China. A local press announced it today. Authorities react in this way on the fact that more than a year from an outbreak of scandal about milk with admixed industrial substance still milk products contaminated in such a way appear in shops. The detection of melamin in milk caused a huge scandal in China in 2008. At least six children died of kidney failure after consummation of contaminated milk and about 300.000 others become ill.

Smoked veal with skin: change of EU legislative?

On the January 1, 2010 the management of Food Safety Authority (FSA) in Great Britain agreed sending an application for a change of EU legislative with an intention to achieve an agreement for production of smoked veal meat with skin for human consumption. The smoked veal meat with skin known as “smokies” is consummated in Great Britain by some ethnic communities. However, its production in the EU is forbidden because hygienic regulations require so that all part of sheep body determined for human consummation (except a head and legs) would be completely get rid of skin.

Tenders for Lesy ČR: This time thumb up

If it is possible recently to praise the state enterprise Lesy České republiky (LČR) for something (yes, really to praise), than it is because of meantime published basic conditions for selective proceedings for forestry works for the period from 2011. Of course, it is a question how particular enclosures to particular contracts with particular winners of particular tenders will look like, however, the frame for first round of selective proceedings is in one word optimal.
