South-Bohemian farmers harvested second biggest amount of rape last year

The rape harvest in the South-Bohemian region was almost record last year, it stayed behind the record from 2004 by four percents. Farmers harvested 126 976 tons of rape, year-on-yearly by almost ten percents more, in spite of that they grew rape on smaller acreage. The cereal harvest decreased year-on-yearly by almost ten percents in the region last year. It results from statistics published by the Czech Statistic Office (CSO). The rape harvest as well as the rape sowing area have gradually grown since 2005 in the South-Bohemian region.

Farmers in Vysočina delivered the biggest amount of pig and beef meat last year

Over the last year, farms in the region Vysočina produced in total 51 600 tons of pig and beef meat which was the biggest amount among CR regions. In year-on-year comparison, the volume decreased by about one percent, however, the republic production of these kinds of meat, according to the Czech Statistic Office, decreased by nine percents. Over 2008, Vysočina ended on the third place in beef and pig meat delivery among the regions.

Large-scale poultry producers promise larger cages and fewer flies

An enlargement of a giant large-scale hen breeding in Velký Malahov in Domažlice region seems to be a bit more real after Thursday negotiation of councilmen. “We gave a preliminary agreement with building of a second hall”, a chief magistrate of the municipality, Václav Brichzin confirmed. A firm Česká drůbež is going to build it for roughly hundreds of million. It will double capacity of the the large-scale breeding to 400 thousand laying hens. “Also annual production will be twice the size. From the current 60 to 120 million eggs”, an agent of the poultry breeding, Petr Červený, announced.

It is dealt with a commodity with a huge tradition, with an influence on the life in a village and a direct influence on the environment. That all as if it does not exists today. Milk got under an uncontrolled pressure of trade chains which are interested as always only in immediate profit. The absolute majority of world countries is aware of the risk for this branch and tries to adjust market impacts in various ways to a bearable limit.
