Revolution in bio-marking

A new logo will be obligatory for all bio-foods from the EU countries from the summer. How and why it was chosen and what it means for the Czech bio-zebra? The European Commission announced a winner of competition for a bio-product logo in the EU. About 130 000 citizens participated in an online voting for a new symbol of bio-products during last two months. They decided for one of three final logos. The winning proposal was created by a Germany student, Dusan Milenkovic, whose logo in a shape of leaf with European stars obtained 63 % of the total number of votes.

Press release SMO to causa “Milk”

Representatives of SMO (the Union of Marginal Areas) were called in a discussion regarding a causa “Milk” to presentation of documents for their arguments. SMO issued a following press release to these problems on the 17th of February, 2010. SMO invoked by its milk production analysis vivid reactions of two types. Ones fundamentally agree, the others fundamentally disagree. Therefore, we tried to analyzed objectively, on which the discordant reactions are based and we can state that mostly it is dealt with a misunderstanding. The above mentioned shows that a discussion was missing and only therefore distorted data could survive, which, unfortunately, influence also very important decisions.

FAO warns against new wave of world food prices increase

Owing to increased demand for agricultural crops, the world could be hit by a new wave of food prices rise. The Food and Agriculture Organization FAO) warned in today´s release. FAO stated the renewed increase in demand for foods in developing countries, continuing and somewhere also growing government support of bio-fuels, and increased energy costs owing to increase in crude-oil prices as the main cause of the future price growth. Prices of basic foods decreased from maxim of 2008 because a global economic recession weakened demand.

Red meat and meat product market has new strong player; fusion of Kostelecké uzeniny and Maso Planá has been successfully realized

A fusion of two important enterprises for processing and production of pig and beef meat from the group Agrofert, the companies Kostelecké uzeniny and Maso Planá, which was realized according to a plan to 1.1.2010, took place without basic problems. Working of successor, which is the firm Kostelecké uzeniny, in first weeks this year proved it. “I can state that we have managed the whole difficult process thanks to a quality preparation. We did not loose any customers and we coped with two different information systems installed in both the original firms.”
