Also this year vaccination against “BT”

To be able to realize a compulsory vaccination against catarrhal sheep fever, the bluetongue (“BT”), also this year, the State Veterinary Administration of the CR issues extraordinary veterinary measures. On their base, a vaccination of cattle, sheep and goats will be started in the entire CR territory on the 13th of March, 2010. This year it is the third year when sheep, goats and cattle will be vaccinated against this disease, so, it is not dealt with anything new for breeders. Till the April 30, 2010, all animals not vaccinated yet have to be vaccinated, and animals which were vaccinated in 2009 have to be revaccinated.

Government will negotiate proposal for help to cow breeders in height 150 million

Czech milk producers should get an extraordinary help owing to a milk market crisis in height roughly 150 million crowns. It is supposed in a proposal which will be negotiated by the government on Monday. The money are a part of parcel 300 million euro (roughly 7.7 billion CZK) which were earmarked by the European Union to help the afflicted branch by low buy-out prices in all Europe in autumn last year. The support should be in the Czech Republic paid off roughly to 2500 cow breeders registered in a milk quota system. It is stated in a material disposable to ČTK.

CSO: Tomatoes and paprikas significantly raised in price in recent two weeks

The most significant rise in price was recorded in Czech shops in case of tomatoes and paprika in recent two weeks, more than by nine percents. Also bananas were more expensive. Vice versa, customers paid less for carrot, quality white wines and fresh butter. It results from data published by the Czech Statistic Office (CSO) today. To the March 2, one kilo of tomatoes cost on average 48.78 crowns, by 4.22 crowns more than in foregoing years. The paprika price increase on average by 6.27 crowns to 73.39 CZK/kg and bananas rose in price to average 28.54 CZK/kg.

Minister Šebesta will withdraw general director of s.p Povodí Vltavy

A general director of the state enterprise Povodí Vltavy will have been withdrawn to the 7th of March, 2010. The reason is inefficient communication with authorities of local self-government, for example within preparation of flood-protection measures. The inadequacies within the preparation of flood-protection measures suggested by municipalities and towns are the reason for a withdrawing of the general director Jan Slanec. The state enterprise Povodí Vltavy will be provisionally directed by a statutory representative Petr Kubala, a present director of catchment government s.p. Povodí Vltavy. The Ministry of Agriculture expects from the new management of the firm a higher quality of work.
