We eat less fish, less than 6 kg instead of 17

The Czechs significantly fall behind in fish consumption. In comparison with the average of European Union they eat up roughly a half amount annually. The main share in Czech household menu is taken by sea fish. In comparison with the world consumption and experts´ recommendation, Czech statistics result much worse. According to statistics on internet sites of the Ministry of Agriculture, an average annual fish consumption in the Czech Republic moves about six kilograms per person, and for example in 2008 it amounted to 5,5 kilogram.

ACH: Farmers finished with worse results since accession into EU last year

Czech farmers reached a positive income from operations last year only thanks to earlier payment of endowments than in foregoing years. Jan Veleba, the president of Agrarian Chamber of the CR told it at its meeting today. The farmers´ profit last year amounted to 3.17 billion crowns which is the worst result since the CR accession into the European Union. Before that the lowest farmers´ profit after the accession in the EU was 6.83 billion crowns in 2006. The biggest impact on last year´s farmers economy was caused by decrease of farmer prices. Czech agriculture has shown a profit since the accession into the EU. Before the accession this branch was predominantly loss-making.

At least 90 milk automat is in Czech Republic

At least 90 automatic machines for milk is in the Czech Republic, agricultural enterprises are going to install other 40 in the following several weeks. Farmers have still bigger interest in automats with an enlarged sale of foods connected with agricultural production. Tomáš Kořínek from the company TOKO Rudice from the region Uherské Hradiště, which had offered the milk bars since November last year, said it to ČTK. Farmers started to consider more the direct sale of milk at the autumn last year. They decided to solve in this way permanently low milk buy-out prices. They cash most often 15 and even more crowns for liter of unprocessed milk from an automat, so, a double of what a dairy works would pay to them.

Germans took in affection bio-foods, they have all bio-supermarkets

Despite the economic crisis and higher price, still more and more Germans prefer bio-foods and beverages. Amount of sold products with this mark in the country grows every year and they are quite commonly in offer of every larger shop. Berlin enthusiasts in health nutrition can meet their demands also in a reputedly largest bio-supermarket in Europe. LPG BioMarkt in a quarter Prenzlauer Berg in east part of the town offers 18 000 products of organic farming on two floors. There is available in bio-quality practically everything what people can imagine – from bio-beer, bio-bread to bio-headcheese.
