Number of zoonoses decreased in EU

Veterinary and humane inspection authorities of the European Union watch systematically occurrence of diseases transmissible from animals to people, i.e. zoonoses. (Zoonoses are infections and diseases that are naturally transmissible directly or indirectly, for example by means of contaminated foods, among animals and people. A seriousness of these human diseases fluctuates from slight symptoms to life threatening states). The situation in last five years is still improving.

The European Union expounded at least 13.5 million Euros (about 343 million crowns) for subsidies to firms which are blamed for illegal fishing. It was shown in a study whose results the server EUObserver quotes. According to an investigation of organization Fishsubsidy.org, the mentioned sum was received by 36 ship owners in the years 1994 – 2006 who were found guilty in 42 cases of infractions. The investigation last nine months during which activists compared lists of condemned with lists of people who get piscatory subsidies from the EU.

Resolution of XVIII congress of Agrarian Chamber of Czech Republic

The congress was called together by a directorship of the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic according to § 13 article 7 of the law No. 301/1992 Col., on the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic in a version in force. The Agrarian Chamber associates entrepreneurs in agriculture, forestry and food industry of all ownership forms and ways of enterprise. Members of Regional Agrarian Chambers control 1 709 thousand ha of agricultural land; the number of members in these chambers is 3 255, of it 2 857 agricultural organizations including 1 602 private farmers,

Farmers will wait with demonstration for the present

The Agrarian Chamber at its meeting decided to give one or two months to the state administrative; it was convinced by an assurance of the Office for Protection of Competition which will deal with stimuli of farmers. An unfair behaviour of trade chains to Czech suppliers from farmers was the main motive of a congress of the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic whose delegates discussed in Olomouc in Thursday. Representatives of Pardubice region arrive at the congress with a suggestion to demonstrate in front of hypermarkets and the Office for Protection of Competition. However, the congress decided at last to wait with pressure means.
