Government approved support for dairy cow breeders

The Minister of Agriculture Jakub Šebesta put forward conditions for providing of a payment for cows bred in a system with milk market production to the government. The government subsequently approved these conditions. The means serve for help to the dairy sector that is affected by an economic crisis for long time. Regarding the fact that the Czech Republic decided to use a support for evening up of special disadvantages, which influence farmers in the milk and milk products branch, because the milk sector is considered as economically sensitive kind of agricultural activity, the main aim of the submitted proposal of statutory rules to define conditions for providing of payment for cows bred in the system with milk market production.

Subsidy for hop and flax growers will be separated from production

Subsidies for hop and flax growers will be independent on their actual production from this year. The regulation which is a reaction on recently realized checkup of the common Union agricultural policy, whose part is also a gradual separation of payments from the production, was approved by the government today. Growers of these crop-plants will be subsidized in frame of unified payment for agricultural land like producers of other agricultural commodities in the future.

Fruit-growers fight with low buy-out prices

South-Bohemian growers fight with low buy-out prices of fruit. Apples for consummation are sold for five to six crowns for a kilogram now, in shops they are offered for roughly 20 crowns. Farmer prices decreased at a level of 30 percents of the shop price last year, the year before last it was 32 percents. A chairmen of the Fruit Growers Union of south and west Bohemia, Pavel Fríd, said it to ČTK. South-Bohemian growers try to sell directly from the farm, however, according to Fríd, it is not a thing that should save fruit-growers.

State of meat cattle in USA is lowest since March 2003

Numbers of meat cattle in the United States are according to last statistics of American Ministry of Agriculture the lowest over last seven years. Businessmen forecasts have proved true and owing to that the beef meat price is the highest since 2008. A number of beef cattle for fattening decreased because producers have forfeited money already for two years. At first, the losses were caused by high feed prices, later also an economic recession which stroke down beef meat prices.
