Farmers of new EU countries want equal condition from 2014
Representatives of agrarian organizations of eight new countries of the European Union signed a declaration in Brno today in which they require evening-up of conditions in calculation of direct agricultural subsidies with old EU countries from 2014. Jan Veleba, the president of Agrarian Chambe,r said to ČTK that none of invited members of management of the European association COPA had not come at a conference that is a part of the fair Techagro, which can be taken up as an of fence, and a part of present participants consider to retire from COPA. If the European Commission does not listen to the requirements of news countries, they are going to organize protests just in Brussels.
Growers harvested 6616 tonnes of hop last year, by 2 pct less year-on-yearly
Czech growers harvested 6616 tonnes of hop last year, roughly by two percents less than the year before last. It results from data of the Ministry of Agriculture presented in an actual issue of a weekly magazine Zemědělec (Farmer). An average yield did not almost changed year-on-yearly and reached 1.25 tonnes per hectare. Despite a slight decrease the last year´s harvest was the fourth best over last twelve years. The crop could have been still better, it was unfavourably affected by windstorms and hailstorms in May and at the end of July. At that time elements damaged about 300 hectares of hop gardens. In 2008, after more than ten years, a substantial increase in grower prices of hop happened.
Milk automats are fashion. And threat
Automatic machines for milk become a hit for consumers and an anxiety for health-officers. The former are attracted by the possibility to tap fresh and chemically untreated milk, the later warn about risks connected with such a way of sale. Only last wee for example in Brno other two automats started to work. The total number is already about hundred in the republic territory, most in “agricultural” Moravia. “It is a different taste than milk from cartons. It is such denser,” Jarmila Blechová, who bought in a new milk-automat in shopping center in Tesco in Brno-Královo Pole, told to LN.
Long winter delayed bit spring hauls of south-Bohemian ponds
Roughly by two weeks long winter delayed spring hauls of south-Bohemian ponds; ice is on many of them even now. With warm weather all water surfaces should have been without ice cover till end of this week. According to ČTK findings, fishermen will start to haul already this week. Blatenská ryba managing on almost 1600 hectares of water surface counts on a haul of almost 200 tonnes of market fish and fish stock. It is roughly the same figure as in last years. According to zootechnician of the company Blatenská Ryba, Karel Nusl, the winter delayed the hauls by ten days to two weeks, however, the will be any problems caused.
