Easter is reputedly second top of season for food producers

Easter is after Christmas the second top of season for food and beverage producers, some farmers and fishermen. Sales increase more significantly to egg producers, bakers and confectioners and spirit producers. In the period of Easter holiday a demand for many foods, which the Czech do not eat much, increases. They have for example lamb or fresh water fish, which they do not eat much except Christmas. “In Easter it is obvious that people return to traditions and decorate eggs, make Easter Eggs and bake or cook typical dishes”, Dagmar Tůmová from The Bohemian-Moravian Poultry Breeding Union said to ČTK.

Lesy ČR will afforest 10  500 hectares this year

Also in the period of economic crisis investments in a forest renewal are necessary and can not be postponed till a time when the economy extricates from a recession. Lesy České republiky will invest in a new planting 650 million crowns this year. The growing activity including protection and up-bringing of young growths will require even almost 2 billion crowns this year. It is a record sum as Lesy České Repupliky has ever planned to input in growing activity in administered forests. “Lesy České republiky plans to afforest parts of forests with a total area 10 500 hectares. We will plant more than 61 million nurselings in total which will contribute to species diversity of our forests.”

Ban of feeding with meat and bone meals

A ban of feeding with processed animal proteins (meat and bone meals) for ruminants was set in the EU countries in 1994- Nevertheless, the restriction in the CR is kept in case of ruminants already since 1991 and in other farm animals since the end of 2003 till now. A regulation (EC) No. 1774/2002 (in force in the CR from the 1st of May 2004 and will end on the 3rd of March, 2011) in case of a possibility of feeding with processed animal proteins restricts their use in the way that they must not be give to feed the same kind of animals. Similarly this restriction is set also in a prepared regulation (EC) No. 1069/2009 which cancels and replaces the regulation (EC) No. 1774/2002 in the entire extent.

Government discussed deficiencies in economy of veterinary bodies

Today, the government dealt with deficiencies in economy of property of some veterinary administrations and institutions revealed above all in 2007 and 2008 by the Supreme Control Office (NKÚ). The premier Jan Fisher said it to journalists after the Cabinet meeting. From a material it results that the Ministry of Agriculture (MZe), in whose department the controlled subjects belong, as well as the own veterinary administrations have already adopted a corrective measures. Ministers discussed also other conclusion of NKÚ today according to which ministries did not use in 2005 - 2008 sufficiently results of consultancy services in projects.
