Czech bio-food market collects powers for further growth

After giddying growths of bio-food turnovers in 2006 to 2008, the market stabilized last year and a supply in some categories finally caught up demand. From preliminary results of a survey of the agency Green marketing between producers and businessmen it results that most of them increased their turnover only slightly, or maintained turnovers from 2008. However, turnovers of some producers and retail dealers grew by tens of percents even in 2009. Still it is hold that approximately 80 % of bio-food sales take place in retail chains of supermarkets, hypermarkets and drug-stores.

Most EU citizens support CAP

According to results of an inquiry, citizens of all EU member states support most of new aims of the Common Agricultural Policy. European citizen of all 27 EU member states support significantly new objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy. It resulted from an investigation ordered by the European Commission. 83 % of citizens expressed, among others, for continuation of farmers support by financial means; in Austria it was even 89 % of the interviewed. A large majority, i.e. 66 % of the questioned EU citizen, thinks that financial means allotted from the common budget are not adequate or sufficient for realization of CAP; while 17 % of the interviewed assume that they are too high.

Sale of milk from automats in Vysočina decreased owing to fears from diseases

Sale of milk from automats, according to farmers in Vysočina, has decreased by about a third in last two months. A reflux of interested people is added to media information about a possible harmfulness of fresh milk. According to first checks, made by veterinarians in the region, milk was in order. Customers should pay attention to advice on automats that raw milk has to be overcook before drinking. A director of the Regional Veterinary Administration, Jiří Šulc, said it to ČTK today. 15 automats operate in Vysočina. A main health officer, Michael Vít, warned against increasing number of diarrhoeal diseases in connection with growing sale of untreated milk at beginning of this year.

Secret news about alcohol. Every second bottle is false

Swindler alcohol producers have a message for Czech customers: every second bottle that you buy is produced illicitly at present. Black market with alcohol has acquired such dimensions after years of relative inhibition that it has started to endanger large traditional producers. As Aktuálně.cz found out from a secret monitoring of frauds and direct interviews with actors of the falsification, the state is robbed of as many as ten billion crowns over a year. The fraud with alcohol achieved dimensions comparable with what happened in nineties of the last century in a famous criminal cause of light fuel oils.
