Management of agriculture in climatic change conditions in USA

Global warming and a climatic change are accepted as facts. Now, moreover to a research of decrease of green-house gas emissions and other factors concerning to agriculture and forestry, the Agricultural Research Service (ASR) still more and more concentrates on finding of ways to adapt agricultural systems to these changes. For a successful adaptation of agriculture it is decisive to provide technologies supporting decision making to producers and workers farming on land, and improvement of flexibility of agri-ecosystems. Diversification of farm operations with a mix of crops and farm animals, which can proper in changing environment, is the main way to increase the flexibility.

President signed laws on waters and land fund

Amendments of acts signed by the President Václav Klaus today bring water conservation against pollution and increase of payments to farmers. Radim Ochvat, a president´s spokesman, informed ČTK about the subscription of the laws. The amendment of water law contains new principles for water-management works and their licensing, and for water treatment, and it also introduces as many as five-million fines. The novel should transfer European rules in Czech system f law and to reduce administrative burden in the water-legal action, and to decrease costs to firms and the state.

Lobby of EU 27 farmers knows what it wants

The presidium COPA (Farmer lobbyist organization of the EU 27) adopted a strategic document about its idea of future of the Common Agricultural Policy for all 27 EU states. A relatively extensive document on eleven pages of text is a massage for politicians what EU farmers expect from them.

Duty of entrepreneurs – breeders of farm animals

According to the law No. 166/1999 Col., on veterinary care and on a change of some connected laws, in full version § 5 article (2) a breeder who as an entrepreneur keeps farm animals for business purpose is obliged according to letter d) to elaborate and up-date an emergency plan according to approved principles (§44 article 1 letter c) for case of occurrence of dangerous infections and diseases transferable from animals to people as well as for a case of rise of extraordinary situation in compliance with a nation-wide programme of damping of one or more infections, diseases transferable from animals to people and invaders, and to submit an own sanitation plan to a regional veterinary administration for approval.
