Statement of ACH CR to president´s veto of amendment of act on atmosphere

The President of CR decided to use his authority given by art. No. 50 of the Constitution of the Czech Republic and to return a law to the Chamber of Deputies which changes the law No. 86/2002 Col., on air protection and on a change of some other laws (the law on air protection) subsequently amended, adopted on the 28th of April, 2010. The vetoed law should have introduced increase in volume of bio-fuels in motor petrols from the June 1, 2010 from the present 3.5 % to 4.1 % and in diesel oil from 4,5 % to 6,1 %.

Apple prices of apples decreased again, outplanting of plantations is in recession

Farmer apple prices decreased year-on-yearly by about a tenth to average seven to ten crowns per kilogram. Growers sold apples, which are the main fruit kind in the Czech Republic, for prices below production costs. It will show itself in continuation of recession of outplanting of new plantations and a significantly less renewal of fruit-growing engineering. The decrease in process was probably caused by the economic crisis when businessmen in a struggle for customer pushed fruit-growers to price reduction. Then, prices in shops have been year-on-yearly lower by three crowns in recent months and apples were sold at average for 21 - 25 crowns per kilogram.

Olomouc festival offers more than hundred of beer marks to taste

Olomouc race course in a town part Lazce has changed in a beer lover paradise. On Wednesday afternoon, a four-day beer festival started in the race course premises. The ninth year of show, of which integral part is music productions, is participated by more than thirty breweries which is an actual record of Olomouc festival. Visitors can traditionally taste not only beers of well-known marks but also beverages of small regional breweries. This year for the first time also breweries Pardubice and Rohozec participate in the festival. However, neither the hardened beer-drinkers will manage to taste the entire festival supply.

Afghan poppy was hit by mould, opium amount will be probably less by quarter

A serious infection affected adversely this year´s poppy crop in Afghanistan. Poppy is used for production of opium and heroin. A reporter server BBC informed about it with reference to a chief of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Antonio Mario Costa today. According to him, for this reason this year´s production could be by a quarter lower compared to the last year. Costa presented that the mould hit about a half of poppy crop in Afghanistan, from where 92 percents of the world opium production originate. According to the director of UNODC, opium prices in the region have already increased by 50 percents.
