Reaction to article “Minister ends, he gave himself million tender farewell”

The Ministry of Agriculture objects strongly to today´s article of the editor Sabina Slonková which contains inexact and misguided data. In the paper it was presented untruly that the department did not answer a question why it had not prepared for the end of contract for IT services from the company Telefónica sufficiently in advance and let everything for last-minute. In fact, the editor did not put this question at all.

Sixteen tones of Brazil nuts from Bolivia was not let in market

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection in cooperation with the Customs Administration withhold two deliveries of Brazil nuts from Bolivia, still before the accession in European market. Inspectors of the food inspections took samples for laboratories from both the deliveries due to determination of aflatoxins. Limits for aflatoxins set by legal regulations were manifold exceeded in both cases, therefore the inspection issued a binding attitude forbidding to let the Brazil nuts further in free circulation. Aflatoxins are mycotoxins produced by some kinds of moulds.

European Commission changes rules for growing of genetically modified crops

On the 13th of June, the European Commission should negotiate about a proposal which will enable it much easier and faster to approve new bio-technological crops, which in countries as the Czech Republic could enable their large-area growing. Whether the crops will be grown in the countries, it will be decided by particular governments. The European Union is towards GMO owing to disbelief of the public and campaigns of green activists the most negative world area in spite of Brussels commission and other institutions repeatedly point at absence of evidence of their risks. Throughout 12 years, only two crops have been approved for growing, while 150 in the world.

MZe: Introduction of so called nitrate instruction will require 2,8 CZK in CR

By the end of 2013, farmers with help of money from European funds and the state budget will have had to invest in stores for barnyard manure roughly 2.8 billion crowns in vulnerable areas of the Czech Republic to fulfill requirements of so called nitrate instruction of the EU. It results from updating of financial costs for implementation of the nitrate instruction elaborated by the Ministry of Agriculture for the government. The Cabinet will discuss the material on Monday. The private sector should participate in financing of the costs needed for fulfillment of the nitrate instruction by a sum roughly 1,74 billion crowns.
