Cereals is underflooded, crop will below this year

Long winter, rainy spring, a little sun – the worse imaginings for farmers. Almost all have fears about this year´s crop, however, the most those, of course, who live upon land. A chairman of directorship of the joined-stock company Rostěnice Vítězslav Navrátil supposes that the loss in cereals will be at least three percents. “In fact, water stopped growth of root system in cereals”, Navrátil explain. However, he still does not despair . “If the main layer manages to dry by the time of harvest, losses would not have to be so high” .

MZe: Money for liquidation of flood damages will be to June

Water managers will get 150 million crowns for removal of this year´s flood damages on the state property still during June and July. A spokeswoman of the Ministry of Agriculture (MZe) said it to ČTK today. The release of money from own budget was enabled to the ministry by the government at the end of May. The ministry estimates damages on water courses and dams in Moravia and Silesia to as many as 500 to 700 million crowns. The ministry will release roughly 40 million crowns from a programme for support of irrigation systems, other 50 million will go from means of the Operation of state financial assets.

Bee-keepers will get half million for new beehives

Bee-keepers in Liberec region can count on a financial help, the same as the last year. Who needs new beehives, bee-veils, or small equipment for care fore six-leg pets can ask for a grant the region Liberec from September. A half million crowns will be added in a grant fund for support of beekeeping. “This fund existed here already last year; it is determined above all for young and starting bee-keepers”, a chairman of the county council of Bee-keepers Union, Vladimír Davídek reminisces. “There was a big interest in the money last year, however, some bee-keepers will ask for money from other resources this year”, he added.

Unified standards of animal protection

According to opinion of Swedish Euro-representative Paulsen, the Animal Protection Action Plan should unify standard of animal protection as well as sanctions for their breach. The European representative Marit Paulsen from Sweden in introduction of her report on the Animal Protection Action Plan in the EU for the period 2006 – 2010 required an implementation of unified standards of animal protection and unified sanctions within the whole European Union. At the same time she required in the Agricultural Committee of the European Parliament an implementation of ban of import of products of animal origin which will not meet these standards of animal protection.
