Three of ten tomatoes bought in Pilsen exceeded norms of pesticides.

Three tested tomato samples offered by chain stores in Pilsen exceeded norms for pesticide content for suckling babies and small children. However, their concentration was significantly lower than the norm allows as a maximum for adult which is positive. Miroslav Šuta, an expert consultant in the area of ecological and healthy risks and representative of a new civic association the Center for Environment and Health, which wants to carried out test regularly, said to journalists today. “ Other positive fact was that in seven of ten chains no tomato and strawberry sample exceeded values, and further that in every problem sample there was always one kind of pesticide and not several as it often happens in the EU”, he added.

The Minister of Agriculture negotiates with its Jordanian colleague today

The recommendations appeal on implementation of concrete procedures on whose base it would be possible to strengthen use of written agreements in supplier chain in the milk branch and to weight proposals for increase of collective buying power of producers of milk and milk products. “ I welcome work of the group at high level and its report. I will study it now in more details in order to be possible to put forward legislative proposals before this year-end.
