Expenditures for food decreased last year, consumption slightly decreased

Owing to price reduction last year in the Czech Republic, expenditures for food decreased by 359 crowns per person. The CR citizen paid for them at average 22 212 crowns, so less than fifth of his/her yearly incomes. The total food consumption decreased very slightly. It results from data in the Report on State of Agriculture over 2009. Consumers´ prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were lower by 3,9 percents in 2009 than a year ago. Vice versa, alcoholic beverages and tobacco owing to increase of consumption tax raised in price by 6,5 percents.

Czech bee-keepers can look forward to money from EU

The Czech Republic as one of first countries has approved support of bee-keeping which will enable to spend almost four million Euro in 2011 - 2013. The biggest interest is in financing of purchase of apparatus and equipment, for support of starting bee-keepers, and contributions for bee-keepers education. Czech bee-keeping programme for the period 2011 to 2013 is already the third bee-keeping programme which the European Commission supported in the CR.

Gardeners and fruit-growers see this year´s crop as disaster

Fruit on shelves of shops will not be missing despite the fact that the crop will be less and of worse quality. Gardeners with fears examine apple-trees and wring hands over pear crops of which will be very low this year. “Some apple-trees are bare, nor one apple. I did not remember such a year that nothing would grow on trees at all”, Josef Nováček from Jihlava region blame this year´s extraordinarily unfavourable weather.

Lesy CR - record management

The operating result of Lesy ČR over January - June 2010: almost 1.8 billion crowns. Lesy ČR continue in a set very good management trend: operating result of Lesy ČR over January to June 2010 is 1.773 billion crowns even in spite of that the enterprise bears extraordinary costs for liquidation of flood damages and winter-storms damages, and owing to that also increased costs for prevention of wood-engraver calamity.
