Will they grow? Will not they grow? Mushroom-pickers disagree

While according to some mycologists mushrooms will start properly at first at the holiday end, according to mushroom expert Libor Tmej from Choceň the fast times can end already in several days. “We expect that mushrooms can start to appear already in a week. It rained a bit, it got cool, temperatures are not extreme, so, mushrooms could start to appear in a week” the mycologist stated. According to him, the season is atypical because in fact it has not started yet.

Brussels allowed import of six genetically modified corn into EU

The European Commission approved six types of genetically modified corn which can be imported in the EU in foods or as a part of feed. EC informed on it journalists in today´s statement. According the agency Reuters, the decision is an expression of the Commission´s effort, so the executive body of the EU, to accelerate a decision making on genetically modified crop-plants in the EU.

Subsidies to Czech eco-farmers grow; they exceeded 980 million CZK last year

Still more and more money wander to support organic farming in the Czech Republic year after year. Last year, more than 980 million crowns was paid off to eco-farmers, by 40 percents more than in 208. From data of the Ministry of Agriculture it results that the endowment volume increased eleven-times over ten years. Most means come from European Union funds. Supports grow because number of organic farmers grows as well as area of by them cultivated land. Generous subsidies are one of the main reasons why the number of bio-farms grows.

Price growth continued on corn-exchange, mainly in feeding cereals

Prices of most commodities crew on the Corn-exchange Brno. Feeding wheat, feeding barley and corn raised in price the most, in some cased by as many as five percents. A steep price increase from the beginning of holiday gas not repeated, despite the fact commodity prices grew far. The reason is a harvest delay, above all in cereals and oilseed rape. Karel Zezula, a general secretary of the exchange said it to ČTK today. According to Zezula, also weather of the last days showed itself in the prices.
