Organic farming cost state over 980 million last year

An organic farming is costly not only for farmers but also for tax payers. Still more and more money wander to support organic farming in the Czech Republic year after year. Last year, more than 980 million crowns was paid off to eco-farmers. The height of support has increased year-on-yearly; endowment volume increased eleven-times over ten years. It results from data of the Ministry of Agriculture (MZe).

Inspection warns against cod liver from Poland

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection carried out a check in last days targeted to the safety of cod livers in a can. Samples were sent in laboratories where a content of dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) was verified. A limit for content of these contaminants in cod livers, determined by the European regulation hold in all member states, amounted to 25.0 picogrammes per gramme.

Government postponed negotiation about increase of Mur budget by billion

The government postponed a negotiation about increase of a budget of the Ministry of Agriculture (MZe) by 1.03 billion crowns for removal of flood damages in its department. A spokeswoman of the ministry, Tereza Dvořáčková said it to ČTK today. Floods caused damages on water-management property, in forests and agriculture exceeding 1.5 billion crowns at the turn of May and June.

Agrarian Chamber dislikes possible reduction of subsidies for farmers

The Agrarian Chamber dislikes that farmers should be deprived of 900 million crowns for evening-up of direct payments as the government recommends reputedly to the Ministry of Agriculture (MZe). It disagree also with that the ministerial budget should be reduced the most of all departments. Chief representatives of the Chamber said it to ČTK today. The government approved freeze of expenditures of all ministries in the total height 10.2 billion crowns on Monday. MZe should save 1.29 billion of it.
