Austria: first in Europe in rubbish composting

Austria composts 40 percents of household waste and is on the first place in the European Union in this field. It is dealt almost with two millions tones annually per 8.3 million inhabitants. Its waste-processing and waste-sorting networks had been built for 20 years, an agency AFP wrote.

Cereals prices grow dramatically. However, bread is cheaper than last year

Owing to natural disasters, wheat is sold almost for double of last year´s price. Prices of foods should increase only slightly. Burnt wheat fields in Russia, rains and floods in the Czech Republic – a scenario for dramatic rise in price is prepared at first sight. Cereals prices fly up also on Chicago exchange. And while a year ago a tonne of food wheat was sold hardly for 2800 crowns in the Czech Republic, now businessmen offer it to farmers for about 4500 crowns.

Big speculator with cocoa passes through. Chocolate prices are saved

Reports on big speculator on a commodity market, who bought up all available cocoa contracts in Europe, excited passions in the second half of July. The total account sounds for one billion dollars for 240 100 tonnes of the commodity. Some journalists recounted it immediately for five Titanics of cocoa. However, the speculation seems to be loss making in a month clearing.

Veleba: Operating results of Czech farmers will be zero this year

Economy of Czech farmers will end on zero in the best case this year. Nevertheless, nor a loss can be excluded. The president of Agrarian Chamber of the CR Jan Veleba estimated it in a Czech television program Otázky Váslava Moravce (Václav Moravec´s Questions) today. Farmers profit amounted to 3.17 billion crowns last year which is the worst result from the accession of the CR into the EU in 2004.
