Farmers warn against increasing food export

The Ministry of Agriculture introduced its plan of saving measure which should affect, among others, so called direct payments. Farmers are taken by surprise because direct payments mean a partial evening up of subsidies at the level of “old” EU countries. “In principle, other cuts can be refused”, Zdeněk Houška from Zemědělské družstvo Skalka (agri-coop) with a seat in Lipí said to Deník. Houška added also several reasons for his attitude immediately.

Forestry unions ask: Exchange top people of Lesy ČR

The Forestry and Wood-working Unions Confederation (KLDS) called upon the Minister of Agriculture Ivan Fuksa to make personal changes in a management of the state enterprise Lesy ČR. The reason is a situation around tenders for timber harvesting from 2011. An original giant tender in a value of 16 billion crowns, criticized by politicians, ecologists, forestry firms and the antimonopoly office, were cancelled by Lesy in half of May. Therefore, in autumn, the enterprise will set one-year tenders for the next year.

Harvest still continue even if harvest-festival has already took place

This year´s harvest has not finished yet although farmers with participation of top politicians celebrated a traditional national harvest-festival at the exhibition Země živitelka (Earth Breadwinner) at the weekend. According to an actual statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture, still 17 percents of fields sowed with cereals remain to be harvested; yields are lowers against last year.

Therefore, in autumn, the state enterprise will set one-year tenders for the next year.
