Apple crop will be second lowest since 1995, prices will rise

This year´s apple crop in Czech growers´ orchards will be obviously the second lowest since 1995. According to a last estimation on the date September 1, the harvest will decrease year-on-yearly by 19 percents to less than 118 000 tonnes. The reason of fall is unfavourable weather at time of tree blooming. Because the drop-out affected also other countries in Europe and last year´s reserves are sold, it expected a rise in apple price. A chairman of the Fruit Growing Union of the CR Martin Ludvík said to ČTK today. The lowest apple crop over the last 15 years was in the CR in 2007. Then the apple crop was wasted by spring frosts and the harvest fell to only 113 000 tonnes.

Lesy ČR announced one-year tenders, works in forests will continue after January 1, 2011 in any case

Today, the management of enterprise Lesy ČR sent to the central address an Announcement on public commission for delivery of forestry services including sale of wood at trunk for the year 2011. It is dealt with one-round open selective proceedings which as the only possible solution of an extraordinary situation caused mainly by representatives of firms associated in the Confederation of Forestry and Wood-processing Unions will secure a continuity of forestry activities and deliveries of wooden mass for inland processers.

Beware of false auditors

The State Veterinary Administration of the CR warns entrepreneurs by means of regional administrations against such “goodies” who offer help to them before check system audit. “Also other state inspection authorities have already met with problems of false inspectors; now, the State Veterinary Administration has a similar experience”.

Monitoring of cattle prices in start of fattening

As we have already advised a few times, an effort of the union is to concentrate the attention not only on special activities resulting from the union statute but to aim our work more at a commercial direction. One of these activities should be also monitoring of cattle prices in start of fattening which we would subsequently processed, evaluated and then collectively inform the breeders on obtained results.
