Cereals are harvested in Karlovy Vary region, quality was influenced by weather
This year´s cereals harvest has finished in the region Karlovy Vary, however, the grain quality was negatively influenced by the weather. At first it was drought and at time of harvest frequent rains. Owing to that the harvest prolonged minimally by a week and also fall after-harvest works are delayed. This year´s average hectare yield of cereals 4.2 tonnes did not meet August forecasts according to which it should have reached almost 4.4 tonnes per hectare. Vratislav Vaigelt from Cheb Agricultural Agency announced it to ČTK today.
New EU legislative focused on plant health
The European Commission forms a new strategy focused on plant health. In 2009-2010, the existing regime of plant health security was evaluated. A work program of the Commission supposes that the new strategy of plant health security, which will include a revised legislative, will have been approved by 2012. More information on CPHR (Common Plant Health Regime). On the 28th of September 2010, a conference will take place in Brussels with name “Towards a new EU Plant Health Law”. An operational document prepared for this action will be discussed at the conference.
Do holders of property claims have still chance?
It is obviously useless to remind evidently the biggest after-November scandal of our legal system to concerned people. It managed nor in 18 years from the validity of transformation law to secure for people of its country a release of property shares which the state promised by law. Maybe the last chance (though a former vice-chairmen of the Land Owners Union, Jaromír Morávek, in consonance with the verdict of the Constitutional Court from 1999 affirms that property ownership is imprescriptible) for redressing of modern injustices can be a proposal of ODS senators headed by Jiří Liška for adoption of law on property compensation, which has already passed the first reading in the Senate.
Areas for potato growing decrease
The interest in potato growing decreases in Klatovy region. Czech potato producers are rolled by competitors from abroad. Areas for potato growing in the region Klatovy decreases year after year, nevertheless, this region used to be a significant potato area where potatoes were grown in all agricultural enterprises.
