Slovaks disregards domestic foods. They are expensive for them

Slovaks prefer eating of cheaper foods from import; they miss out domestic production. According to experts, the reason is preferring of a price to a goods origin. ”At time of higher unemployment, so also an uncertainty, it holds more and more”, an analysts of Post bank Eva Sadovská explains for the daily E15. A problem is also a supply in shops when Slovakian goods represents only approximately only a half of assortment. “The situation in Slovakia is worse than other countries”, Stanislav Nemec from Slovak Agricultural and Food Chamber points out.

Olomouc headquarters bestowed title region product of to 11 foods

The administration of Olomouc headquarters and a local Agrarian Chamber bestowed a title The Product of Olomouc region to 11 products of regional food firms today. An expert jury chose them from 59 products which were entered in the competition by more than two tens of food producers from the region. The assessment was obtained for example by a company Hanácká kyselka (a producer of flavoured mineral waters), Cukrovar Vrbátky (a sugar refinery), Zemědělské družstvo Jeseník (an agri-coop) and butchery Kunovský. A special hetman prize was given to a cheese of the company Orrero. “A significance of this competition lies above all in a support of regional foods.”

Food-producers from the Czech Republic present themselves at fair SIAL in Paris

The most important European food industry show - a fair SIAL welcome thousands of exhibitors in Paris every two years. This year´s fair will take place on the 17th to 21st of October. Czech food-producers will present themselves under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Agricultural and Intervention Fund. The Czech Republic will be represented by almost 25 firms and institutions. The biggest share of representatives will belong to South Moravia, Prague and Central Bohemia. The department will be presented by the deputy minister of agriculture Juraj Chmiel. “The participation of Czech firms in international fairs helps to increase export of agrarian and food products”.

Potato yields were lower this year in the CR, they will be imported more

A potato yields were lower this year in the Czech Republic. It happens owing to the unfavourable weather and also growing areas decreased almost by six percents in year-on-year comparison. According to estimation of the Central Potato Growing Union (ÚBS) ware potatoes production will not be sufficient to cover domestic consumption which exceeds 600 000 tonnes per year. Obviously, potatoes import will increase by tens of thousands of tones. It was said by a chairman of the Potatoes Growing Union, Miloslav Chlan, to journalist at today´s special workshop in Havlíčkův Brod. “We always exported less and imported more. However, the difference was in tens of thousand of tones…”.
