Pastries producers war for Babiččiny nudle. Among themselves and even with Patent Office

In contrast to the EU, Czech Patent Office has refused to register a mark of noodles. A firm Babiččiny nudle (kind of pastries) reckoned the damage for tens of millions crowns. A war for pastries culminates in the Czech Republic. Concretely it is dealt with a mark of one of the most expensive pastries - Babiččiny nudle. They are buyable on the market from two producers: Babiččiny nudle from České Budějovice and Nový Věk from Vysoké Mýto. Budějovice producer claims for a registration of word trademark in the Patent Office to no purpose already for five years. There a bit later and also to no purpose, also Nový Věk submitted an application for registration. However, Budějovice producer has at the disposal a regular registration for a territory of the entire European Union issued a year ago by the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM).

Germans have closed other 140 farms owing to carcinogenic dioxins

German authorities have closed other 139 farms in North Rhine - Westphalia. Their hens, chickens or pigs ate a feed with carcinogenic dioxins. A number of closed farms has increased against Tuesday to more than 1 100. German government considers a more strict regulation of breeding. Thuringian Minister of Economy requires more severe punishments for breaking of rules in agricultural production and breedings. German server thelocal.de informs on it. According to it North Rhine - Westphalia has already published a list of charges of the first contaminated eggs which can be on shelves of shops or which Germans can have at home.

FAO: Food price index in December on maximum over at least 20 years

World food prices at year-end grew intensively further and the food commodity price index got on its record maximum in December, so the highest over minimally last 20 years. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of UNO stated that today. FAO index overcame the present maximum from a period of food crisis in 2008 last month. The index value in December against the foregoing year grew almost by nine points to 214.7 points. Thereby it exceeded the present record 213.5 points from June 2008. The FAO index increased gradually from 2003 to 2008, than a steep price fall followed. The index started a new wave of continuous growth last year in June and it is almost on double level of 2004 now.

State arrears towards farmers will increase by other 1.2 bil. CZK

The Ministry of Agriculture will pay to Czech farmers for a done output by 16 % less than the European legislative orders. It is dealt with state commissions concerning care for landscape contracted in frame of the Rural Development Program for five years. The total arrears of the state will exceed 4 billion crowns for the years 2007 - 2011 and it is a question whether the mentioned problem does not start to meet a character of arbitrations which the state owing to disobedience to rules in many cases loses. The problem consists in that Czech officials misinterpret the amount of means which should be paid off to Czech farmers. European regulations place a duty on member states to pay farmers for done work in height of costs, respectively a detriment.
