According to British, reform of EU agricultural policy is low-ambitious
The EU, at time of world food price growth, has a good opportunity to reduce subsidies which it pays off to its farmers. It should count on their complete removal in the future, British Ministress of Environment Caroline Spelman thinks. Coincidentally, the UNO published statistics in the same day according to which prices of foods were in December the highest since the food crisis in 2008.
Farmers: How head health-officer will approach to dioxins?
The main representatives of the CR agrarian sector decided to at today´s extraordinary meeting called upon the head heath-officer of the CR and the Deputy Minister of Health for protection and support of public health Michael Vít to take a concrete stand to German scandal with an occurrence of dioxins in eggs and pig meat. “Recently, we have recorded indicia about increase of egg import from Germany. We have it documented from some tradesmen”, a chairman of the Agricuktural Union of the CR Miroslav Jirovský stated at the meeting.
Cattle disappears already for several month in Ústí region
Whether on pastures or in cowsheds, cattle are not safe against thieves anywhere. Thoroughbred cattle disappear from pastures and cowsheds in the region Ústí. During November and December last year, owners of several farms in Litoměřice and Děčín region found out that they miss calves and bulls on pastures. Litoměřice police spokeswoman Alena Romová informed about the last case when an owner lost two thoroughbred bulls of the breed Aberdeen Angus from a cowshed in Levínské Petrovice in Litoměřice region.
Foods are most expensive in history; price growth will hit also Czech Republic
A bad weather - mainly drought and conflagrations - increased price of foods by quarter in the world. Especially prices of sugar, cereals, and oil plants fly up. The world food prices climbed the highest over the last minimally 20 years at the end of last year. According to analysts, their price will grow further and presently it can show itself in the Czech Republic. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UNO stated on Wednesday that the food commodity price index, which originated in 1990, got in December on the highest value in its history.
